MOST Rev. Jose Colin M. Bagaforo, DD, Archdiocese of Cotabato auxiliary bishop, together with Rev. Fr. Rex Bacero (Archdiocesan Notre Dame Schools of Cotabato Director/Superintendent), Msgr. Antonio P. Pueyo, DCC (former NDAS Rector), Rev. Fr. Loreto G. Sanoy (former NDAS rector), Rev. Fr. Gilbert Nasataya (former formator at the Regional Major Seminary in Davao City), Rev. Fr. Benjamin Torreto (current NDAS rector), Rev. Fr. Gerard Fornan (current NDAS Dean of Studies and former NDAS rector), and Rev. Fr. Benjamin Laforteza, Jr. (current NDAS spiritual director) celebrated Mass of the Holy Spirit with 38 seminarians at the Our Lady of Guadalupe Chapel at the Notre Dame Archdiocesan Seminary last June 26.
In his homily, Bishop Bagaforo challenged the seminarians to continue to discern their gifts and effectively use these gifts in their daily seminary life by taking time to pray and reflect on them.
He said that one can use his gifts by choosing: to change the part of the world that he touches daily ; to enhance the liturgy ; to bring Christ to others; to build up the Body of Christ; to provide temporal needs; to serve the community; to intercede by praying; and to offer one’s life: being willing to serve for God is calling him to the priesthood.
The Mass of the Holy Spirit was offered to strengthen the vocation of the seminarians and prepare them for more challenging tasks that they will encounter as they begin the school year for their seminary formation.
After the mass was a festive celebration. The seminarians were given “gifts”-- courtesy of the seminary benefactors -- for their personal and daily use. As they would tell “the celebration was a great experience” because of the undying support of their formators and benefactors. (Ching Ayupan/Archdiocese of Cotabato)
